Shantytown:
Where History Comes Alive, Exploring the Heart of New Zealand. Shantytown is a complete historical township within the native rainforest. Jade Country:
The West Coast of the Southern Alps is the source of New Zealand’s Nephrite Jade. This has been used for centuries by the native Maori for ornamental carvings, jewellery, weapons and tools. Jade Country Greymouth show-cases high quality, individually designed and crafted jade sculptures and jewellery. Punakaiki, Pancake Rocks and Blowholes:
A world famous limestone rock formation of layered rock, this resembles a huge stack of pancakes (hence the name). This is 42kms north of Greymouth on the beautiful “Coast Road” and is within the Paparoa National Park. www.punakaiki.co.nz
